Carrie Disrud
has been a working artist for more than 30 years
& brings her distinctive & colorful style to
Hearts & Bones.

Carrie has been a gallery owner & has exhibited & sold her work all around the country.
Her delightful murals have been gracing the walls & furniture of Blue Heaven for decades
& her playful ceramic tiles can be seen
numbering houses in the streets of Key West.

Carrie has lived in the heart of Bahama Village for almost 40 years where she paints & has raised her family.

Karen Luknis,
Captain & owner of Venus Charters,
has been building an impressive body of work in recent years with her imaginative assemblage art. Found vintage objects & doll parts
are brought to life
in her three dimensional creations.

Karen was a recipient
of the 2016 Anne McKee Artist Grant
& currently has a solo show - Mystical Entities -
at Salt Gallery in Key West until Dec 30.

A Key West native for 25+ years,
Karen paints & creates with her beloved
Boston Terrier, Tyson, by her side...
when she's not taking excited travelers to explore & fish the blue waters of the Keys.

I've been making photos with film for 25 years & I love working with alternative processes.

I experiment with polaroid film
& I enjoy the process of transfers & emulsions.
The end result is never what you expect...
the element of surprise with the final image is part of the joy working with this medium.

My analogue photography has been in group shows in Melbourne Australia & Key West, Florida.

I look forward to showing my work alongside
Carrie & Karen at More Hearts & Bones

kindred-sista fundraiser

I first met Karen Heins nearly two decades ago when we worked together at a beautiful Key West store, Kindred Spirit. Karen is an artist, accomplished pianist & a beautiful soul. Saturday Nov 25th will be a special birthday event for this kindred sista. Debi Lippi of The Green Pineapple will be hosting a birthday celebration & the event will double as a fundraiser for Karen, & her partner Kerry, to help rebuild their home after hurricane (almighty-wench) Irma.

There will be a silent auction & the chance to bid on art of all mediums...

a print from my talented partner, eric anfinson & one of my original polaroid emulsions
will be a part of the auction alongside beautiful local art.

I hope you can make it to celebrate Karen's birthday,
eat cake, dance & sip champagne
& share the love that will fill the room this Saturday.

Get your bling on before your favourite one-of-a-kind sells out!

it's been a while

The months have sailed past since moving to Florida . . . eight months later & I'm feeling more settled & at home again here. It has been a wild journey coming back to this town & building a new life just streets away from where I lived 15 years ago.

The site has finally had a long-overdue revamp & some new 'old-favourites' will be online in the next couple of days. More of the well-loved porcelain rings & necklaces by Ruby Pilven are back & I can't wait to have them available to you again. It has taken me an age to get these beauties photographed & ready for the store. A big thank you to my ladies who've been waiting patiently for Ruby's jewels to arrive. . . I'll email you all personally when they hit the shelves this week.

September will see a new collection of resin earrings by Flock Curiosity Assembly. Hand-poured rainbows of colour by talented creative partners, Stacey & Sarah. Made in my hometown of Melbourne, these are by far my favorite ear bling - I wear mine everywhere!

More fab Australian makers will be in-store at a later date . . . I'll keep you updated as orders are finalised.
Keep an eye on instagram for updates & Key West snapshots.

Thank you for the continual support

relocating... 90 miles north of Cuba

My recent three-month hiatus, to a 2x4 sq mile island flanked by the Atlantic & the Gulf of Mexico, has redirected life in a big way. Before I travelled here in December I knew deep down I would live here again. I first visited the island of Key West in 1998 & fell in love with this last fragment of land at the end of the Florida Keys. Six months later I moved from Melbourne Australia to live on this tropical rock where I stayed for eight years. A decade later & the island has lured me back. Only those that have lived here know the way this island holds on to a part of you... a hold brave enough to draw you back.

I reconnected with a dear friend late last year & have ventured toward love... 14,560 km / 9047 miles across the sea. Some said I was crazy, others said I was brave. I am here now, amid the salty air & warm breeze, breathing life & love once again.

falling for florin is still on vacation but will re-open soon with new stock & a fresh new look. I'm aiming for a June relaunch with beautiful new wares from Australian makers. I'll keep you posted on instagram & the blog.

I currently have jewelry & some smaller wares available for immediate shipping. Please email for inquiries before purchasing. Items will now be shipped from the Continental US so shipping rates will be different to the Australia Post pricing you may be used to. Until the store is updated the shipping rates will be calculated manually so just send me an email if something grabs your fancy & I'll get back to you with a quote.

Thank you for your emails, patience & support :)

See you soon,

three-month bon voyage

Hello, lovely people...

It's been a long time between blog posts & my instagram followers will have noticed a little silence of images on my IG feed too.

2016 has been a busy family year for me & a personally stressful one on many levels. The challenges have been golden & I wouldn't change them even if I could.  Now I'm having some long-overdue nurturing time for self & travelling across the globe for a much needed break.

I've packed my bags, shut up shop for a little while & am heading to a 2x4 sq mile island for three months. I will be rested, recharged & in the company of some lovely souls... friends I haven't seen in 10 years. Revisiting my old island life will be a beautiful reunion in more ways than one.

I will send you postcard snaps on Instagram, so keep an eye out if you'd like to follow my adventures... ocean for miles & miles, incredible sunsets & French-Caribbean architecture.

All stock inquiries welcome & I will reply to emails within 48 hours. I will have jewellery stock with me so would be happy to chat. International inquiries welcome.

Apologies I'm unable to fill your Chrissie orders for the rest of the year. I will miss wrapping all your presents & mailing them out to friends & loved ones.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas & enjoy the holidays.
